Stiperstones

Meet at the Abbey at 8.30 am, grade C, about 12 miles and 2400 feet of ascent following tracks, field and woodland paths and two short sections of quiet lanes.

Starting from The Bog the walk follows a scenic route around the southern end of the Stiperstones to coincide (hopefully) with the abundant heather in full bloom. The route heads towards Pennerley then across to Grit, Milk and Mucklewick hills and on to the top of Heath Mynd (452 m). We'll join the lane near Linley Hall which carries the Shropshire Way and follow the Way up through Linley Beeches, on to Linley Hill and to the southern end of the Nipstone Nature Reserve. We walk the length of the reserve back to our cars. If the weather is kind, there will be excellent views all around enhanced by the swathes of purple heather and if the air is warm and there is little wind we may catch a sweet whiff of it too!
