Sunday 19th September 2021 - Titterstone Clee

Meet at the Abbey at 8.30 am. Grade C

As part of the annual Festival of Walks to showcase the variety of scenery along the Shropshire Way, I'll be leading a varied 11.5 mile walk with 1700 ft of gradual ascent from Cleehill in an area not recently visited by the Club. The car park is on the A4117 (SO595754) - go round Ludlow on the bypass and at the first roundabout take the A4117 to Kidderminster (supermarket construction on the left). Follow the road for about 5 miles to the village of Cleehill and the car park is at the top of the rise on the right just beyond the shops. The route heads northeast across heath and moorland through industrial archaeological sites to Magpie Hill, across Catherton Common to Crumpsbrook and on to Silvington Common and the village of Cleeton St Mary. From Callowgate the route joins the Shropshire Way to the summit of Titterstone Clee, Shropshire's third highest summit, being a tad lower than nearby Brown Clee and the Stiperstones. We then follow the Way for most of the walk back to Cleehill. With good weather there will be excellent views all round. Please let me know if you plan to drive direct to the walk start.
