Sunday 3rd June 2018 - Pen y Garn and Cregannan Lakes

From sea level this 11.5 mile walk with 2300 feet of ascent follows tracks and footpaths up through woods and across fields before a steeper section on rough terrain brings walkers to the summit of Pen y Garn (459 m).  Easy walking on a mix of tracks and a quiet road leads to the picturesque Cregennan lakes.  An undulating route is then taken to the top of the Arthog Falls followed by a descending path through the woods  with the river for company all the way. The last section is on the Mawddach Trail back to the start point. With good weather there'll be wonderful views of the Mawddach estuary, Barmouth, the coastline northwards and the Lleyn peninsula as well as the majestic ridge leading to Cader Idris.
