Toilets are available at the back of the town hall, which we will be walking past, very soon after the start of the walk. We will make a short stop, if necessary.Alternatively, they can be visited before parking, with only a short diversion.

Distance to start: 23 miles. Journey time: 40 minutes

The route takes us south, over Town hill, then going around Caeliber Isaf, before returning to Montgomery, via Llandyssil. I shall also look to incorporate a quick visit to the castle, which is FOC to access.

Being in Powys, it is not as straight forward a route as it might be. I first walked an earlier version of this route years ago and complained to the council about various obstructions. Their response was to advise me to change my route, by incorporating diversions that are included in this walk. Even so, the route still includes climbing over both a gate and a fence, which unusually doesnít include any barbed wire.

A few diversions from the footpaths are also necessary, where access to fields donít exist, where they should be. Donít let this put you off. The route is a rewarding one as some interesting places are visited and long range views are the norm.
