Meet at the Abbey, at 8.15.
Car sharing is now an option but not obligatory. If you wish
to go directly to the walk start, please advise the walk leader and
text, on the day of the walk, that you will be attending. The text
be acknowledged, if it is received before we set off from the Abbey.

Starting Point: The free car
park at the northern end of Gospel Pass
side). This is on the road to Capel-y-ffin and very shortly after going
the highest point in the gap between Hay Bluff and Lord Hereford’s Knob.

The car park isn’t very
big, so car sharing is likely to be necessary, although alternative

the start, or during the walk. The journey time allows for comfort
The route starts with a
climb up to Lord Hereford’s Knob, from where we travel SW, following
along the top of the escarpment, before turning to visit Grwyne Fawr
where there will be the option of taking a short walk, to cross and
along the top of the dam. Alternatively, there is the option of resting
We will then make our way
to Capel-y-ffin, as directly as is practical, before climbing to the
Dyke Path, which we will use to make our way to Hay Bluff, from where
return to the starting point.
As you might expect, the
walk is hilly, with some stretches of fairly steep climbing. The path
Capel-y-ffin needs to be taken with care but it’s not especially
just over used.
There are plenty of views,
to be had and weather permitting the route should provide fun for all
Hillwalkers. No scrambling required and very few stiles.
