Sunday
19th December 2021 - Church Stretton
Joint walk with Shropshire Young Ramblers and Christmas drinks:
Grade C, start 9.00
Celebrate the Winter Solstice (well almost!) and the
Festive Season with a circular route from the centre of Church Stretton
finishing with drinks in a town pub. Christmas hats and accessories
preferable but not compulsory.
Meet at 9 am at the Abbey to share cars or at 9.30
am in the main car park, Easthope Road (opposite the Co-op), Church
Stretton (free on Sundays and toilets available). Please let the walk
leader know if you plan to go direct to Church Stretton.
10 miles and just over 2000 feet of ascent via the
summit of Caer Caradoc, across to The Wilderness and down to Cardington
village, up to Willstone Hill and along the Hope Bowdler ridge to the
Gaer Stone then a gentle return to the town for drinks in the Kings
Arms. One steep ascent early on to Caer Caradoc, a more gradual one to
Willstone Hill later on otherwise it's a fairly easy undulating route
through fields and on tracks with minimal tarmac. If the weather is on
our side there will be plenty of good views.
