Sunday 12th December 2021 - Turning our back on Corndon Hill

Leader: David Jakeman; Contact number: 07824 542340; Email: david.jakeman@talk21.com

Walk distance: 10 miles, with a total of 1511’ of ascent.

Meet at the Abbey: 09:00

Journey time: 33 minutes, distance to start: 18 miles

Walk start: Approx. 09:45.  No toilet facilities at the start.

This walk starts almost in the shadow of Corndon Hill but explores the area to the north and west. We do the usual Mitchell’s Fold section but then turn west, around Castle Ring Fort, before visiting Rorrington, the motte and Bailet site, at Wilmington, Wotherton, the hill above Ridge Farm and return via Priest Weston but that is just the bare bones of this convoluted route.

Park on the road bend, either to the side of the gate, at the start of the track to the parking SW of Mitchell’s fold, or across the road on the track going towards the west side of Corndon Hill.
