10th June 2018 - Carnedd Llewellyn
been regraded as an 'A' walk because there's some easy scrambling at
three points. That means hands on rock, but no serious exposure
difficulties; it's not like Crib Goch or Tryfan north ridge, and we've
done the circuit as a club several times in the past.
We will start near Llyn Ogwen
and head up into Cwm Lloer and the first peak, Pen yr Ole
Wen (978m). Then we can enjoy a magificent high-level trundle over
Carnedd Dafydd (1044m) and around Cefn Ysgolion Duon (the Ridge of the
Black Ladders), up to the high point at Carnedd Llewellyn (1064m). The
return is south-east down to Bwlch Eryi Farchog, with dramatic views
northwards into Cwm Eigiau, then a final climb up to Pen yr Helgi Du
and south down a fine ridge back to the valley.
Total distance is around 16km with 1000m of ascent - maybe 7 hours walking.
