Bill Fowler will be leading the walk on Sunday 18 July in the area above Llangollen. Although this is in the same vicinity as last week's walk it is a very different route. Details as follows:

Meet/parking: 9.30 am opposite the Ponderosa cafe at the head of the Horseshoe Pass. Grid Ref SJ192 480. About one hour's drive from Shrewsbury. Toilets available in the cafe.

Route: 12 miles, 3000 feet of ascent, grade B. Ascend Moel y Faen and Moel y Gamelin thence via Berwyn Quarry to the incline head on the tramway which ran from Moel-y-faen Quarries to the canal at Pentrefelin. Descend to Llantysilio Church thence over Coed Hyrddyn (Velvet Hill). Crossing both Tramway and the A542 we cross the valley to follow the Clwydian Way before taking a higher level track below the wireless station on Cyrn-y-Brain which leads down to the hamlet of Tai-Newyddion. A final track and short section of quiet road returns us to the Ponderosa.
